DIALOGUE FOR PEACEFUL CHANGE -

Creating Pathways for Overcoming Division
February 22-27, 2009

SPIRIT IN THE DESERT RETREAT CENTER

If you are working in the field of social change you are on the front line of building and rebuilding society and frequently deal with the conflicts that naturally arise. This Dialogue for Peaceful Change (DPC) training is for leaders such as you to learn the creative and practical skills required to assist those in conflict to move through change peacefully.

In this intensive four-day training, we will look at why conflicts resurface time and time again and learn the specific steps needed to bring both parties to a place of transformation - so that they can live and work without violence. The DPC approach fully recognizes that conflicts in today’s global community frequently include tensions that have an inter-religious and inter-cultural basis.

DPC is part of a global coalition dedicated to creating safe spaces to overcome division, through a structured process of mutual empowerment. The program is based on work in Corrymeela, Northern Ireland, and is applicable to conflicts, large and small - in communities, organizations, families, and between individuals.

Trainers from Ireland and the U.S. will lead the event. Spirit in the Desert is the only DPC training site in the U.S.

Begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday and ends with lunch on Friday.
$575 covers tuition, materials, 4 nights dbl-occupancy lodging, meals & snacks.
$500 for commuters covers everything except lodging.
